What does your job entail?

I lead a team that grows retail brands that champion female confidence and inspire women to find their space in the economy. My job entails growing a strong, knowledgeable and purpose-led team. I spend time finding out as much as I can about our consumers and their every need. I build strategies that make our business sustainable in the future. We launch incredibly engaging campaigns and come up with products and services that make the lives of our consumers easier. I also coach my team in their everyday personal and professional journeys. Overall, I just do epic things on most days.

What do you look for in a mentee?

I love to work with people who are curious and excited to learn about themselves, and who are not afraid to make moves. Effective mentoring requires actions that can be measured to see progress.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Admitting new patients to my team’s unit on a day where I do a 24-hour call, and seeing patients who are already admitted so I can do follow-up investigations. I am also studying after-hours to write examinations and complete courses related to my field of specialisation to get me closer to qualifying. I also give presentations to staff on healthcare topics to increase information about various medical conditions and management options available.

What do you look for in a mentee?

Friendly and teachable people who are willing to put themselves out there to learn a new skill. I would like to work with the kind of person who hits the ground running with solutions instead of excuses.

What does your job entail?

As founder and chief executive of Candi&Co, I focus on everything a business needs to grow and survive – the good, the bad and the challenging. I manage the finances of the business, marketing, PR, events, social media, HR, training, supplier management, innovations, operations, partnerships, store management, strategy and anything else that impacts the business.

What do you look for in a mentee?

I would like to work with someone who is passionate and determined to take on a year-long mentorship. Being proactive and professional is super-important to me.

I host SABC 1’s talk show Daily Thetha, where we give the youth a platform to discuss issues in SA. I am also a content creator within the consumer financial education space, and I run a financial-literacy business.

I want to work with someone who is persistent and knows how to identify opportunities. A happy and creative soul is always a win for me.

What does your job entail?

I am responsible for all transactional work pertaining to the company’s expansion, and I oversee all deal conversions and lease negotiations. I contribute to the regional growth strategy and expansion planning. My job is also focused on determining a market growth strategy and ensuring a healthy pipeline of commercial real estate well suited to the company’s product lines.

What do you look for in a mentee?

Someone who is passionate and dedicated. If they’re committed and focused, it will put them in good stead for any challenges that may come their way.

What does your job entail?

Coaching women worldwide through my eating-plan eBooks and fitness guides. I also plan to launch the first personal-training app in South Africa, called Rushtush. You’ll be able to train with me anywhere at any time. After just giving birth to my second son, I’m more motivated than ever to expand my product offering. I also have a successful pharmaceutical range, helping to transform women nationwide.

What do you look for in a mentee?

Someone who is solutions-driven and good at problem-solving. They should take pride in their job and anything that they commit to.

Lindiwe Dhlamini

SDGs and Agenda 2063 expert

What does your job entail?

I assist organisations to connect and coordinate with government, civil society, the private sector, academia, research institutions, the UN and donor agencies to domesticate the SDGs and Agenda 2063 through different avenues and to ultimately help track implementation. I build and maintain positive relationships with high-level representatives in these different sectors, resulting in ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the SDGs and Agenda 2063 within the country and region.

What do you look for in a mentee?

She should be doing her best with the knowledge and information that she has. She realises the need to seek out further guidance, direction and support from someone who has possibly walked a similar path before her. She is equally excited and apprehensive to be stretched beyond her comfort zone, but knows it’s ultimately for her own good because she may learn things that she wouldn’t have been able to find in a textbook.
