Why You NEED to Try This Korean Skincare Method

Beauty routine 2.0

Korean skincare products are still in short supply within the South African beauty industry, but the demand for more options are growing at a rapid pace.

The reason that Korea is the skincare capital of the world is down to the national obsession with good skin – women there spend twice as more on skincare as they do in the US, and Korean men spend more than men in any other nation. Their skincare technology has been estimated to be 12 years more advanced when compared to other parts of the globe. For them, good skincare isn’t a luxury, but rather a part of life – and the results speak for themselves.

Korean skincare products not only come in crazy-cute packaging that makes you want to buy them (think: panda-themed eye sticks), but their 10-step method has helped many people with problem skin find their glow. This 10-step method suits most skin types and you don’t have to use only Korean beauty products to do it, either!

So what does the 10-step method entail? We break it down for you

Step 1: Oil Cleanser

An oil cleanser is great for deep-cleaning your skin thoroughly as it removes dirt, build-up and makeup.

Step 2: Foam Cleanser

Just in case the oil didn’t get rid of everything, you then use a water-based foam cleanser to make double sure that you have.

Step 3: Exfoliator

Dead skin cells now need to be sloughed away and pores unblocked, which is just the job for an exfoliator. This should only be done three times a week.

Step 4: Toner

You skin is probably feeling a bit tender after all this cleansing, which is why a cooling, hydrating toner is such an important step.

Step 5: Essence

Essences are similar to serums but they are more watery – much like a toner. You are meant to pat this onto your face for added skincare benefits.

Step 6: Serum

A serum is an important part of any skincare routine as it contains a high concentration of active ingredients which can be absorbed into your skin.

Step 7: Mask

Just when you thought your skin didn’t need any more nourishment, you are now required to use a mask – the  sheet mask being the K-Beauty mask of choice.

Step 8: Eye Cream

Eye cream helps to keep the eye area moisturised and wrinkle-free. Identify what your skin needs and slather this on after masking.

Step 9: Face Cream

Now something we are all familiar with – face cream. Pick one that works for your skin type, whether it’s dry, dehydrated, sensitive or prone to break-outs.

Step 10: Sunscreen

SPF should be a staple in everyone’s beauty routine, anyway. In the K-Beauty regime, it’s layered on last to make sure you stay protected all day.

Sure, it might seem long, but if you want perfect skin that makes everyone jealous, it might just be worth it.
