Look pretty in purple this spring ✨ 💜

The no-eye-makeup-makeup trend is taking a back seat – it’s time to turn up the volume. Pantone’s Colour of the Year is Ultra Violet, and we couldn’t be more excited because the soft but bold colour is flattering for most skin tones. Makeup artist Kimlyn Sisam visited the COSMO beauty office to show us how to apply this season’s trendiest eye-makeup colour.

Tips for Rocking Ultraviolet Eyeshadow:

This look is perfect for spring, which is just around the corner! It’s light, soft and oh-so-pretty! However, there are some tips to keep in mind before you cover yourself in the prettiest shade of the season:

1 Go bold or go home

The trick here is to use an eye shadow that is pigmented and rich in colour. Make the look stand out even more by layering different shades together, from rosy hues to bright purple shades.

2 Pair it with volumising mascara or navy eyeliner

The colour is a statement on its own, but you can take it up a notch by pairing it with a strengthening and volumising mascara to seal the look. If you’re feeling brave, swipe on some navy eyeliner along the bottom of your waterline.

3 A light hand is key

When blending the colours together, always remember to go in lightly and steadily. You don’t want to be too harsh with the blending, otherwise it will create a very rough and garish look.

4 Keep overall makeup simple

Don’t let your bold and colourful eye makeup compete with your other features – keep the rest of your makeup minimal. Create an au-naturel finish by using a warm, bronze highlighter and dusting it on cheeks and the bridge of your nose. Finish off your look with nude lips.
