We are just over halfway through 2019, and I am officially declaring it the year of the celebrity beauty brand. A whole host of famous faces, from Hailey Baldwin/Bieber to Lady Gaga, are putting their names and faces to cosmetic lines because if Rihanna and her Fenty empire are anything to go by, they could stand to make megabucks.
The latest celebrity to announce that she would soon be launching a beauty line is former Spice Girl and fashion maven Victoria Beckham, and it’s been a long time in the making.
Beauty Like Beckham
A couple of days ago Victoria Beckham took to Instagram to share with her followers that she would soon be launching a ‘special project’ which has been a long time in the making.
She also shared behind-the-scenes pics of her being primped and preened to star in the ad campaign for Victoria Beckham Beauty, which is due to be launching around spring.
And rather than just focussing on makeup or skincare, this line is going to comprise of both, as well as fragrances and wellness items. And seeing that all her Victoria Beckham Beauty posts contain the #cleanbeauty hashtag, we can no doubt expect thoughtfully-created products with non-toxic ingredients. So basically she is pulling a Gwyneth Paltrow. We can get behind it.
After the major success of her collaboration with Estée Lauder, it’s no wonder that she made the decision to branch out into the world of beauty. Something else that should come as no surprise is that the collection is meant to be a syngery between fashion and beauty, with fashion being an area she has already proven herself in.
While it’s unlikely that Victoria Beckham Beauty will make it to SA shores (even if it is what we want, what we really, really want), that isn’t dampering our excitement one bit and we fully intend to live vicariously through the beauty hauls of others. Sigh.
