5 Tattoo Trends to Look Out For RN

All the ink-spiration you need

Getting a tattoo is a major commitment. Even if you know you want one, and even if you know what you want it to be of, there are so many styles to choose from. And choosing a style can be a minefield in itself, because it can say a lot about who you are, and it will be saying it FOREVER. So no pressure then!

COSMO helps you decode the top tattoo style trends RN so that you can decide which type is right for you.

5 tattoo trends to look out for and where to get them

1 Minimalistic Linear Tattoos

Expect to see loads of solid lines and negative spaces this year. If an actual image is too much of a commitment for you, then why not opt for something that will never go out of style? Minimalist tattoos are as classic as a little black dress – but edgier.

2 Watercolour Tattoos

If you prefer something softer and more whimsical, then a watercolour tattoo might be right up your alley. They come in different varieties, some with solid line work filled in with colour and others where the colour has a splashed effect, but they’re all equally beautiful.

3 Hand-poked Tattoos

This style has more to do with HOW the ink is applied to the skin than the actual finished product. However the aesthetic is noticeably different, and perf for smaller tats (but not limited to). This is a machine-free method where the artist uses a needle to insert the ink into the skin manually. This style can actually allow the artist even more control and can have a slick or rustic, but always cool, finish.

Full Black and Grey Tattoos

Colour is great, but black and grey tattoos take us back to basics, and we all know classic is classic for a reason! These tats can look just as rich and bold without bright shades (better yet, they won’t clash with your outfit).

5 Mandala Tattoos

More and more people are getting in tune with their spiritual side, and what better way to take it to the next level than by getting a mandala tattoo? These geometric shapes are generally bespoke designs that are created for the individual, so it’s as one-of-a-kind as you are.
