Nail Trends We Spotted at NYFW That You Can Totally Pull Off

These are the summer nail trends you need to try!

Fashion Week has officially kicked off and, of course, we’re on the lookout for the hottest trends. But let’s be honest – how many of us can actually afford designer items, like, right now? Yup, not many of us – myself included. However, New York Fashion Week S/S 2019 serves as inspo for many statement beauty trends to jump on board with, and nail trends are one of them. Here are the NYFW nail trends that we just couldn’t miss even if we tried.

Here are the top nail trends that we spotted at NYFW that you can rock this coming season:

Sporty Stripes

What’s the vibe: The look for the Kith x Tommy Hilfiger show was all about fun and edgy nails. The classic manicure was given a graphic and modern twist.

How to get the look: Instead of classic white tips, this season we’re switching it up with two-toned manicure tips. You can recreate this look easily at home with two colours that compliment each other.

Orbit motion

What’s the vibe: The detailed accent around the nails was the main attraction during the Jeremy Scott show. The look was bold and innovative, just like the fashion.

How to get the look: When wanting to DIY this look, you need a precise and steady hand. Start off by first painting the whole nail with a neutral nail polish shade, and then using a bright colour such as cobalt blue or neon pink around the edges.

Glittering galaxy

What’s the vibe: Manicurist Evelyn Lim perfectly conceptualised the ‘brightest stars in the sky’ for the Tadashi Shoji show. It was a glittering galaxy affair. The whole mood was definitely extraterrestrial.

How to get the look: Paint your nails in a holographic nail-polish colour and then create an ombre effect using a glitter nail polish on top. Let some glitter flecks sprinkle down to the base of the nail and then seal the look with a top coat.

Jelly funk

What’s the vibe: The nail trend that we’ve been seeing all over Instagram made an appearance on the runway – clearly confirmation that it’s the next big manicure trend for summer.

How to get the look: You’ll probably need a professional manicurist to achieve this look. The nail look is created by sculpting a clear Gelish or acrylic application, and then topping it off with a sheer nail polish on top.

Embellished Artwork

What’s the vibe: The Blonds and Libertine shows started off our swooning over the extravagant and intricately designed nails at New York Fashion Week. Spikes, pearls and jewels covered the nails on the runways so beautifully, but in a way that is still actually wearable.

How to get the look: This look will also require the touch of a professional manicurist, but make sure that whoever attempts to jewel up your nails has a creative flare. Start off by picking an overall colour for your nails, something with a pop of colour, and then adding the embellishments all over the nails.

Graphic Goals

What’s the vibe: Eye-catching and printed nails were the focus at the Christian Siriano show, which added a cool and polished effect on the nails. It’s a super-edgy and over-the-top nail style to rock this season.

How to get the look: Start with a base nail colour on your nails. With your second colour of choice, dip a little into water and mix the colour using a toothpick. Then cover your cuticles with masking tape and dip your nail into the water so it picks up the pattern in a natural-looking way.
