Miley Cyrus Showed Off A Sneaky Breakup Tattoo at the VMAs Following Liam Hemsworth Split

You know it’s over when they get it inscribed in ink.

  • Miley Cyrus just got a brand new tattoo that references her breakup and divorce from Liam Hemsworth, and you could see it during her (shady) performance at the VMAs.
  • Yes, I am crying right now.

Welp, you guys. This Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth breakup divorce drama just keeps getting sadder with each passing day, it seems. First, it was the news of their breakup itself. Then shortly after, Liam filed for divorce after seeing those Miley and Kaitlynn kissing pics. And let us not forget that all 15 of their pets will be going to Miley, meaning that they will now be fatherless pet children! Honestly, the thing that makes this entire divorce so heartbreaking is that they both still have love for each other, but it just didn’t work out. But now that some of the dust has settled, it seems like both parties are ready to move forward, especially Miley.

While attending the VMAs tonight, Miley used her appearance at the show to debut some brand-new post-Liam breakup ink. And it was definitely a breakup tattoo. Miley’s new ink, which was done by Los Angeles-based tattoo artist Winter Stone, reads ‘My head was feeling scared, but my heart was feeling free.’ Beautiful, right? The line is actually a lyric from a Pixies’ song titled ‘The Thing,’ which fits a little too well into Miley’s current situation.

If you look closely, you’ll see that the tattoo is on Miley’s left bicep. Now this is a complete and total guess about the meaning, but the placement makes me think that Miley has come out of this break up feeling stronger than ever and is now ready to live her full truth.

‘Liam loves Miley and is crushed by all of this,’ a source told ET last week about why Miley and Liam went through with a divorce. ‘But right now, Miley doesn’t want to answer to anyone. She still feels the need to explore herself, her sexuality, and her music. Miley has been working in the studio and wants to blow off steam.’
