Jennifer Lopez Had a Hair Makeover and is Officially a Blonde Now

She’s decided to lighten TF up. Get it?

Ever since she broke on to the music scene, Jennifer Lopez has been rocking the same honey-hued locks. And why wouldn’t she? This shade suits her golden skin tone like a dream, and there’s nothing wrong with being a colour loyalist. But now, at the badass age of 50, JLo has undergone a hair makeover, and the colour is making us all want to embrace the lighter side this summer. Yes, she’s a blonde now.

Blonde and Beautiful

This weekend was the premiere of the movie Hustlers at the Toronto International Film Festival. Jennifer Lopez is one of the big-name celebs in the star-studded cast, which naturally meant that she was at the event, and she clearly didn’t come to blend in, because she arrived with gorg new blonde hair.

As is evident from the drool-worthy pics, it isn’t just her colour that’s changed. She is also now sporting a sleek lob (and making us want to go for a chop too, tbh). And just in case you were thinking that this is yet another celeb in a wig, you’d be wrong, because this fab shade is the real deal.

So you’re convinced and what to get your own JLo ‘glow’? While blonde hair can look bougie, it requires more maintenance (ie loads of labour and targeted products) than other popular shades. The most important haircare buys to add to your routine after going lighter are products that a) hydrate and b) prevent brassiness. Because, as JLo proves, a yellow dress can be bomb, but yellow roots? Not so much.

Because most people will require a significant amount of bleach to go blonde (which should also be done by the pros and not in your bathroom at home. Unless you don’t mind losing chunks of hair?) your barnet will probably have suffered some damage during the process. But don’t worry, because here are some picks that will ensure you look as close to JLo perfection as a mere mortal possibly can.

1. Olaplex Hair Bundle
