Sweating might not be one of life’s pleasures, but it is completely natural and happens to everyone. It’s nothing that a few strategic swipes of antiperspirant can’t take care of. But did you know that your lipstick can ‘sweat’ too? Yes, it does sound impossible, but it happens all the time.
Hot and Bothered
If you have ever left a lipstick in your handbag or drawer for a while and then hauled it out to use, only to find it covered in sweat-like droplets, you are not alone. This is a really common occurrence and nothing to break a sweat over (see what we did there?). The reason for this strange phenomenon has to do with the changing of temperatures where the lipstick is stored. The beads of ‘sweat’ are actually the oils in the makeup formula that rise to the surface when exposed to fluctuating temperatures, and this effects cream-based lippies more than others.
So does this mean that you need to say your goodbyes and dump it in the bin? Fortunately not!
But there is some bad news (sorry!). When this happens to lipstick it can mean that the composition has changed, meaning that it might not deliver the same results that it once did. But it isn’t dangerous to use, and the ‘sweat’ can easily be wiped off using a tissue and some rubbing alcohol.
So is there a way to prevent your lipstick from ‘sweating’ in the first place? There is!
And it isn’t difficult either. All you need to do is to store your collection in the fridge. This will ensure that it is kept at a regulated temperature at all times so that your products keep their cool and perform at their very best.
