Hand masks are the latest ‘accessory’ for selfies and soft AF hands

Lookin’ – and feelin’ – smooth

Just about the entire world is currently under lockdown, with varying degrees of movement permitted. This is to try and prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. In South Africa, we are currently banned from leaving our homes for anything that isn’t essential (and by ‘essential’ I am talking life or death, not exposed roots and grown-off manicures!). This pandemic has already seen the emergence of some new beauty trends. And one of them, which is popping up all over my Insta feed RN, is hand masks.

Helping hands

One of the main things that the coronavirus crisis has taught us is the importance of washing our hands. This is something that we are all doing more frequently than we usually do, which is great for preventing the spread of disease, but not so great for the health of your hands. And it’s not just the washing that’s sucking the life out of them, but the *liberal amounts* of drying, alcohol-based sanitiser that we are slathering on post-cleanse.

This means that more and more skincare junkies are turning to hand masks for help.

Sure, massaging a nourishing cream into your paws regularly will help plenty, but hand masks contain ingredients that deliver a concentrated dose of hydration to keep your skin healthy and soft.

Skincare, but make it fashion

Naturally, the people of Instagram have found a way to show their new-found appreciation for this beauty ‘accessory’: styling them with jewellery. Because people have a lot of time (and dry skin) on their hands ATM!
