Is it just us or does it seem like every celeb is running to their nearest hair salon to get a stylish, quick snipping? Bobs and lobs seem to be the cut of choice in 2015 – think Kim K, Margot Robbie, Emma Stone, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Ellie Goulding.
If you’re eager to make the big cut like your favourite celebs but are worried a short-do may not suit you, there’s honestly no truth in that, because there’s a lob or bob for everyone – it just all comes down to your hair texture.
1. The Classic Pixie Cut
Suitable for: women with thick, straight hair
Great for hair that has a lot of volume. Why? Hair with body won’t lie ‘too close to the scalp’ when the pixie cut has been styled.
2. The Messy Pixie
Suitable for: women with a thick, wavy hair texture
Natural curls and waviness are needed as these qualities provide body. Therefore, thickness is essential and, to some extent, required for this style as it’ll give your hair that added volume at the top of your head.
3. The Layered Afro
Suitable for: women with very curly hair
Strong curls will uphold this short-do and actually prevent your Afro from ‘drooping’ – if droopiness is a hair issue for you. This hairstyle will also lighten the weight of your ‘Fro by cutting away any excess curls.
4. The Unconventional Bob
Suitable for: women with thin but wavy hair
This bob doesn’t have a classic or identifiable form like the pixie cut, for instance. If you have thin hair and you’re worried your locks may look incredibly flat in a short style, this bob prevents that from happening as it’s styled layer by layer to create volume.
5. The Lob
Suitable for: errrbody!
Also known as the long bob, this style pretty much works on any hair type. Here’s a little lob inspo for the day…
