Cute ballet pumps, sexy stilettos, power platforms – chances are, you have several pairs of each. But do you realise your shoes should come with a health warning? A report from podiatrists reveals that up to 80% of us have foot problems, and our shoes don’t help the situation. Here’s how to limit the negative effects…
|HIGH HEELS||The Problem: These may be a summer favourite, but tread carefully. According to Dave, their chunky soles can affect your balance. ‘When you turn or twist, your foot is held firm, which can cause sprained or broken ankles,’ he says.
Foot Fix: ‘The best compromise is to opt for cork soles as they’re better for absorption. Also, styles with a slightly curved sole allow more movement for easier walking,’ adds Dave. Avoid really high wedges or you could hurt more than just your pride if you take a tumble.
