As the temperature gets increasingly hotter, it becomes harder and harder to keep skin hydrated and matte – especially for those of us with oily skin. Keep scrolling down for COSMO’s tips on caring for oily skin.
1. Use Blotting Paper to Remove Excess Oil During the Day
Even if you have a build-up of oil, don’t wash your face more than twice a day. Washing your face too often will dry out the skin and cause it to produce more oil. Instead, use blotting paper to remove oil build-up and mattify the skin.
Exfoliate once a week. This will help to unclog pores and remove dirt from the skin. Don’t exfoliate more than once a week.
3. Use the Right Products
Select ‘oil-free’, ‘water-based’ and ‘non-comedogenic’. products. Oil-free products are lightweight but still moisturise skin. Non-comedogenic means the product has been clinically tested and will not cause pimples or clog pores.
4. Use the Right Amount of Product
Less is more when it comes to most facial products. Using too much acne medication or moisturiser won’t make your skin better – it will just deplete your product faster. Always use a pea-sized amount of product – you don’t need any more than that.
