When we think ‘boots’ we often box them into the category of the casual pair of shoes for extreme winter weather. Perhaps we think of crisp autumn mornings, stepping on crunchy fallen leaves and keeping our toes toasty. But ankle boots can be worn all year round and for almost any occasion, it just depends on how they’re worn and styled.
There are so many styles that it can be a little overwhelming and, let’s be honest, buying ankle boots can be daunting if you don’t know how to wear them. But luckily we have some tips for you:

1. For a casual weekend look:
Opt for a rounded toe for a more casual look and a small heel to add height.
Cuffed or rolled jeans are a cute way to show off your boots and a little bit of ankle. This works best with skinny jeans.
To make this look a bit more fun, try adding socks. Go for a neutral colour if you don’t want to draw too much attention.
2. For a date night:
‘There’s nothing better than a cosy, romantic date night,’ she says. ‘When the only walking I have to do is from the car to the restaurant, I pull out my highest heels! I’ve had these burgundy booties for two years now and I really think they’re a timeless style. I’ve worn them with everything from ripped jeans to trousers and I particularly love them with this lace dress. Since it’s still chilly winter here in New England, I layered a warm turtleneck sweater over the dress. The burgundy of the bootie gives the outfit a nice pop of colour.’
3. For a work meeting:
Opt for more practical, low-to-flat-heeled boots as chances are you’ll be running in and out of the office. Pointed, patent-leather boots are so sophisticated and give off a really sleek look, which makes up for the casual impression of wearing flat shoes. Pair them with trousers for an ‘office chic’ polished-yet-edgy look. Tip: make sure they’re ankle grazers and have a slim cut.
