The year is 2018. Two of some of the most popular social media platforms are coming together to give you, the user, the experience of your dreams. That’s right, folks: WhatsApp is getting an Instagram feature.
Facebook, the owner of YouTube, Instagram AND WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that lets Instagram users share their Stories on WhatsApp – as a WhatsApp status.
If you’re constantly switching between updating your status on WhatsApp and your Stories on Instagram, this may save you some time by killing two virtual birds with one social media stone.
How To Do It
To share your Insta Stories on WhatsApp, you need enter the app and select ‘Send’ to post your story. Like regular Stories, the WhatsApp Status will disappear from your feed over 24 hours.
What You Need To Know About the Feature:
1 It’s Not Available on IG Yet
You guys know the drill: roll-outs are always tested on a sample group first to test the kinks and check the general response before they’re fully released, so don’t expect this feature just yet.
2 Encryption Game On Fleek
Just like your messages on WhatsApp, the Stories you share are encrypted – i.e. nobody can gain access to your private messages. You can share the Story with pictures, GIFs and videos on WhatsApp and they’re all under the same protection.
3 They’re Facebook Shareable
Not only can you share your Stories on WhatsApp, but you can share them on Facebook, too! It’s the holy trifecta!
4 What’s Bigger Than Snapchat?
Your Stories AND your WhatsApp status! According to Tech Crunch, Father of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg announced in November 2017 that Stories and WhatsApp Status have 300-million daily active users combined. This beats Snapchat’s 173-million daily active users.
