Plunging Necklines

One of winter’s hottest trends is the feminine and risqué plunging neckline which has been seen on fashionista celebs such as Kate Moss, Gwen Stefani, Kim Kardashian and Heidi Klum. This sexy neckline yells, ‘look at me!’, while being a great way of keeping winter woollies fresh, trendy and elegant. The plunging neckline has been added to drapery blouses, maxi dresses, body suits and even swimwear, but it’s a bold look to pull off, so make sure you do it right.

The best way to pull off a plunging neckline is to go naked underneath, but if you can’t imagine yourself bra-less, opt for lacy underwear. A lace bra with a bold style or even a bold print could work. Then, pair your plunging neckline with a structured bottom to balance out your outfit. Think of the seventies vintage trend and take inspiration from it – a plunging top goes well with wide-legged pants or a midi skirt. Pairing your plunging neckline with something structured or masculine creates contrast. A suit jacket with a plunging neckline looks great with a dress; opt for sheer fabrics for a more feminine, sensual style.

Jewellery should be eliminated or worn very moderately, making sure you leave your neckline as the main attraction. If you are going to accessorise wear a tiny, structured handbag and a pointy-toe shoe to keep things from looking over-the-top sexy. Keep your hair tied back in a sexy bed-head bun, a loose fishtail or a plait. Your makeup should be subtle and alluring. And don’t forget the rule of only flaunting one body part at a time.
