Beyoncé and Jay-Z Posed for an Elevator Photo on His Birthday, Wink Wink

For Jay-Z’s 48th birthday on Monday, Beyoncé rented out a theatre for a private showing of Wonder Wheel at the Angelika Film Center in NYC, People reports. Those dying for a movie review from the couple will have to look elsewhere, as the world received something even better: an elevator moment from the Carters, some three years after their Met Gala elevator incident with Solange. The 2017 version of the Carter Elevator Experience was anything but dramatic. Look at them: Beyoncé smiled! It said ‘Unity’ on her sleeve! And Jay wore a suit – to the movies! As a video obtained by TMZ shows, Jay even offered some direction for the epic moment, telling photographers, ‘Hurry up, come get it.’ (There’s also audio of someone asking, ‘Who the hell’s this behind her?’ referring to Jay, and you bet I’ve seen the clip at least 12 times this morning.’)

In August, Jay opened up about Solange and the 2014 elevator incident in an interview with Rap Radar. ‘We had one disagreement ever. Before and after, we’ve been cool,’ he said. ‘She’s like my sister. I will protect her. That’s my sister – not my sister-in-law – my sister. Period.’
