It’s undeniable that some of the most iconic performances of all time have gone down at awards shows. Remember when Beyoncé announced her pregnancy on stage? And that time Madonna and Britney made out? And Jennifer Lopez’s green dress (not quite a performance but, like, still very iconic)?
On that note, here is a list (and highlights) of presenters and performers set to take the stage this Sunday (28th Jan) for the 2018 Grammys. Put your shades on, the stars are coming out bright for Music’s Big Night. We’re feeling the excitement.
The Mother Monster is going to be performing a track from her nominated album, Joanne.
Well-known for her amazing performances, we are waiting in anticipation to see what Pink has up her sleeve. The singer is nominated as well for her album, Beautiful Trauma , and single, ‘What About Us.’
After having a traumatic past few years Kesha has risen from the ashes and earned her first Grammy nomination. She will be performing her song ‘Praying’ from her album ‘Rainbow’ on the night with Camila Cabello and Cyndi Lauper, Julia Michaels and Andra Day in a #MeToo- inspired ‘moment’ (as reports call it). Speaking about #MeToo/#TimesUp moments, the red carpet looks set to be downright blooming with white roses in continued support of these initiatives, following the statement of solidarity at the 2018 Golden Globes.
Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover) will take to the stage for the first time ever at the Grammy Awards. Glover is nominated for a host of awards: “Album Of The Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album for Awaken, My Love!; and Record Of The Year, Best R&B Song and Best Traditional R&B Performance for ‘Redbone.'” He goes against ‘Despacito’ singers Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee (featuring Justin Bieber) for ‘Record of the Year’. *biting nails*
Miley Cyrus & Elton John
The music legend announced he would be retiring from touring, following this final “most produced, fantastic show I’ve ever done”, appropriately named the ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour. No doubt his joint performance with Miley will be one you don’t want to miss.
Rihanna, Bryson Tiller and DJ Khaled
The trio will be performing their hit song ‘Wild Thoughts’ sampled from the original Santana ft. The Product G&B song, ‘Maria Maria’
Cardi B and Bruno Mars
Cardi B and Bruno Mars are going to be performing their hit song Finesse. If the music video is anything to go by, this performance is going to be 🔥🔥🔥. Cardi is up for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for her breakthrough hit Bodak Yellow. And Bruno Mars is up for six Grammys (see the full list here), including Album Of The Year for 24K Magic and Song Of The Year for That’s What I Like. This makes him the third-most-nominated artist (after Kendrick and Jay-Z).
Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee
These two were behind that song you literally couldn’t escape for the past year, Despacito.
Dubbed the new queen of R&B, if you are one of the millions of fan girls who had Love Galore on repeat for months, you’ll be happy to hear that she’s earned a whole five nominations.
SZA will be the most nominated female artist at the Grammys this year.
She shared this heartwarming Instagram post with her fans in response:
