It’s undeniable that some of the most iconic performances of all time have gone down at awards shows. Remember when Beyoncé announced her pregnancy on stage? And that time Madonna and Britney made out? And Jennifer Lopez’s green dress (not quite a performance but, like, still very iconic)? On that note, they’ve released the list of performers for the 2018 Grammys and it’s pretty star-studded. We’re feeling the excitement already.
Cardi B and Bruno Mars
The reign of Cardi B is still very real. She and Bruno Mars are going to be performing their new song Finesse. If the music video is anything to go by, this performance is going to be 🔥🔥🔥. Cardi is up for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for her breakthrough hit Bodak Yellow. And Bruno Mars is up for six Grammys, including Album Of The Year for 24K Magic and Song Of The Year for That’s What I Like. This makes him the third-most-nominated artist (after Kendrick and Jay-Z).
Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee
These two were behind that song you literally couldn’t escape for the past year, Despacito.
The new queen of R&B . If you are one of the millions of fan girls who had Love Galore on repeat for months you’ll be happy to hear that she’s earned a whole five nominations. This means she’s the most nominated woman at the Grammys – pretty amazing for a new artist.
Rapper Logic will be performing his song about suicide, 1-800-273-8255. He’ll be joined by Khalid and Alessia Cara for the song as well as a group of suicide survivors on stage in a bid to raise awareness for the suicide hotline number.
After having a traumatic past few years Kesha has risen from the ashes and earned her first Grammy nomination, plus she’ll be singing on the night.
The awards are going to be hosted by the hilarious James Corden. Could there be a Carpool Karaoke: Grammys Edition on the cards, perhaps?
You can catch the Grammys on 28 January at 4.30pm PST. (That’s 2.30am for us in South Africa, set your alarms.)
