These celebrities followed in their mothers’ footsteps when they decided to enter the entertainment industry:
Somizi Mhlongo and Mary Twala
When your mom is an award-winning actress, it is inevitable that you’re going to slay this life thing. That award-winning actress is Somizi’s mom, Mary Twala – she’s had an extensive career as an actress in TV, film and theatre. She’s won Best Comedy Performer awards for her performances in Hlala Kwabafileyo and Molo Fish, and the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in Taxi To Soweto. Her career also includes international films such as Sarafina! and A Love In Africa.? ?
Dineo Moeketsi and KG Moeketsi
You may not know this, but Radio 2000’s presenter KG Moeketsi is Dineo’s mom. We knew they were related somehow (because of the surnames) but we thought they were sisters, TBH. Growing up with a mother who’s been in the entertainment industry for years, we’re sure Dineo has learnt a thing or two. No wonder she is such a powerhouse.
Enhle Mbali and Bongi Mlotshwa
Bongi Mlotshwa is nothing short of amazing. Not only is she an actress but she can also give you a proper face-beat. Enhle’s mother is a makeup artist by profession, and has worked with celebrities such as Kelly Khumalo, Thando Thabethe and the whole Generations: The Legacy crew. Talk about #BossMoves??
Nonhle Thema and Cynthia Shange
Nonhle’s mother is a South African veteran model and actress best known for her recurring role as Mankosi (Thandaza’s mother) on SABC2’s popular soapie Muvhango. She also made history when she became the first black beauty queen to represent South Africa at the Miss World pageant in 1972. Cynthia’s daughter, Nonhle, also made history a few years back when she became the first South African Dark and Lovely brand ambassador. Yas, queens!?
