'I think women have a false representation of what men want them to look like.'
What is the first thing you notice about a woman?
Probably her accent. That, and diction. It's also how a woman carries herself.
What makes you want to go up to a woman and strike up a conversation?
Her smile. Or a really good Riesling.
Please describe your ideal woman.
She doesn't exist! The ideal is such a con, but she has to be smarter than me. Someone who is a constant challenge. Well read. She has to love wine and food, or just put up with me loving it.
What are the top traits a girl must have to meet your mother?
Honesty and a sense of humour.
Which is more important; looks or character?
Character, obviously. Looks are fleeting, deceptive, but oh so tempting. Can I be simplistic? OK. Character can make up for a lack in looks, but no amount of looks can make up for a lack in character.
What is your favourite part of a woman's body?
In terms of usefulness it would have to be the brain. For pure aesthetic reasons, the cheekbones, lips and upper thighs.
Do you think most men value personality over physical attributes?
Probably not, I guess. Although the ones who don't will regret it later.
Is it very important that your friends like the girl you are seeing?
This also suggests that it is important for the girl I am seeing to like my friends? In a perfect world, of course. But my friends' real purpose in these situations is to warn me if I am with some psychotic succubus, and to perform an intervention if I do not listen.
Do you think women are too critical of their appearances?
I think everybody is now - men and women. I think women have a false representation of what men want them to look like. Today we chase after a simulacrum of perfection. Which is sad, as by definition it cannot be reached. And we are critical of ourselves not matching up to an imagined state. We are a weird bunch.
Should a woman take it personally when their boyfriend looks at other women?
They shouldn't. But then what does 'looks' mean? I like looking at people when I am with someone. It's like going to a living art gallery, appreciating the aesthetic of the human race is fun. Hungrily looking at every bit of tit and ass like some sex-starved convict is not so great. Stay classy guys.
What advice would you give your teenage son on what to look for in a woman?
Don't be a douche-bag. Life is not one long porno. I'd also check if he really wanted a woman, because man, I could be wasting a whole bunch of good advice. Essentially, and I'm sorry but this is a massive cliché, he has to look for a partner who makes him happy. Or, put differently, everyone needs to look for a partner that makes them gay.
