Rejig relationships
Before your promotion, you may have had little contact with company decision-makers. Now you're a step closer to their level, so start relating to them in a more confident way. Asking how a higher- up's day is going and acting more forward in meetings will show you're comfortable with your elevated status. Another savvy move: revamp relationships with former peers. 'Cut back the time you spend with them during office hours,' Murphy says. 'This shows that you respect the divide between you and the more junior staffers, while still preserving those friendships.' |
