December seems very far away (because it is), but with a few changes to your workplace, you can feel like you’re on holiday throughout the year.

But remember, there’s a difference between keeping yourself motivated by recalling fond memories of past holidays and just shutting down all together, warns Martyn. You don’t want to risk losing your job.

ON HOLIDAY TIP #1	Stay goal-orientated. Surrounding yourself with reminders of your future holiday will keep you motivated. ‘No matter how great your job is, there are going to be days, and even weeks, that are long and stressful.’ Martyn recommends balancing these times with a ‘me’ fund. Each month, she says, ensure a little money and leave is secure for your future holiday. ‘If money is a problem, explore options with colleagues such as swapping timeshare, house-sitting in another town or camping with friends.’ Make sure to surround yourself with pictures to remind yourself of your goal, she says. This way, she adds, you might remember to pack a work lunch and save the canteen money for your much-desired break.
