How she makes the web work for her:
'The web is a rich source of referrals for myself and the other psychologists at the practice. I have developed a website, which allows our clients to learn about us and the services we offer, so they arrive at the practice knowing what to expect and we can get started immediately on the therapy/counselling/coaching or guidance. I have also made a number of tools and worksheets available to clients on the website's resources page, and this saves us having to spend time organising, printing and handing out the papers at the practice, since we can then just direct our clients to the webpage. I have also made extensive use of both free and paid-for marketing opportunities on the Internet, and most of our new clients find us that way.

'Furthermore, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, RSS feeds and blogging are great ways to interact with both existing and potential clients around issues that generally come up in therapy or new opportunities for clients to develop themselves. Such connections are less invasive than direct e- mails or newsletters, as it is easy for the client to "switch you on and off" as they wish – without having to interact to do so.'

How to make the web work for you:
'The most important thing about using the web is to become very clear on your objective. Are you wishing to promote yourself, a service or a product, or do you simply wish to network or make friends? Once you have defined what you want the web to do for you, you can start placing yourself on the map in a manner that portrays what you wish to put across, in the places where your message or service is relevant.'
