The readers were treated to a delicious breakfast in the morning, before starting the workshops at the venues, which included The Southern Sun Elangeni in Durban, The Fairway Hotel and Golf Resort in Jo’burg and the African Pride 15 On Orange Hotel in Cape Town.

The readers were given tips from COSMO’s fashion guru Robynne Kahn - she told them how to look and feel like a star by following a few easy rules and by shopping at Foschini and Donna-Claire. Readers then got insider makeup tips, while makeup artists made over the celebrity of the day using Revlon products.

The readers also got a hair makeover by Toni & Guy Electrical, and a fresh look from Revlon’s makeup professionals. They also had their nails done with Revlon’s Top Speed Nail Varnish.

After lunch, readers were given a professional bra fitting by Triumph. Robynne then made sure everyone was styled and comfortable in the latest Foschini and Donna-Claire fashion and accessories. In front of the camera, the readers received posing advice from Tanit, Poppy and Lieschen, and were snapped looking cover girl glamorous!

After a few cocktails, lucky draw prizes and stunning goodie bags, the readers got their COSMO, which featured them on the front cover. The Cover Girl workshops are always an inspiring, fun day out - and most of the readers left ready to show off their new looks.

Hot Hair http://www.cosmopolitan.co.za//Fashion/Cover-Girl/hot-hair

Shattered Edge
To create a dynamic shattered-effect look, first blow dry your hair straight with the latest Joystick control digital 'Tourmaline' Dryer and for added sleekness, work the sexy TONI&GUY straighteners throughout from root-to-tip.

To finish – combine a paste and serum together between your palms and rub liberally throughout your hair. Using the 'Tourmaline' enhanced hairdryer to protect your colour on a cold setting, literally blast the hair all over – using your fingers to separate, as you pull your hair forwards towards your face and in various directions so the overall result looks deliberately random.

Back To The Future
A modern take on the twenties flapper bob – this look incorporates the new 'trapeze', 'wig-like' shape, which is distinctly edgier in tone. First blow-dry your hair on a medium heat – after spritzing your hair with heat defence spray. Smooth over with the ‘Tourmaline’ enhanced slimline straighteners until über-straight and then to finish, apply shine spray to key areas of your crown, such as the fringe and the sides to recreate the trapeze-effect with exaggerated separation along the edges.

Whimsical Waves
To get a look of combined sleekness with soft, open, loose waves – prep your hair with heat defence spray to protect against heat styling. Blow-dry your hair straight with one of the 'Tourmaline' technology enhanced dryers that will protect your hair colour. Using the 38mm digital Tourmaline tong, take sections of your hair, starting at the nape and curl around the barrel to just below your ear level. Use a small, round, bristle brush when drying your fringe and pay special attention to creating a neat, curvature shape.

Here, the professional TONI&GUY tools used to create the above styles:

Must-Have Winter Fashion: Part Two http://www.cosmopolitan.co.za//Fashion/Cover-Girl/must-have-winter-fashion-part-two
1. A good figure fixing tip is that an outfit is only as good as its foundation. Shapewear is a new advancement in underwear technology that is specifically designed to flatter your figure and is perfect for wearing under your more figure-hugging outfits. No surgery required, just perfect!

2. For a fresh new take on wearing patterns, play around by mixing print with print. For example, combine stripes with florals. Note to self: when trying to execute this look, make sure that both prints are similar in colouration and tone.

3. Instead of slipping into the usual cocktail dress for your next big occasion, turn heads by doing the unexpected and wearing a tailored tuxedo-inspired suit, just as Anne Hathaway did while hosting the Oscars earlier this year.

4. Move over fur, it's Sherpa that is the cosy trim of choice; lining bags, jackets and boots. This woolly fabric looks tactile, yet tough when applied to what is one of winter's key items - the Sherpa biker-inspired jacket.

5. The highly regarded design duo that is Dolce & Gabbana has rekindled knitwear's love for fairisles! However, don't make the mistake in thinking that your baggy Christmas snowflake- and reindeer- design knitwear is now considered to be on trend. Domenico and Stefano inspire knitwear that is fitted, sexy and sophisticated.

6. Flaunt your curves this season! Some of the most flattering winter items are actually the more fitted options. Tailored and structured slim-fitting sheath dresses and pencil skirts are amongst the most ideal.

7. Try out the wide and slouchy pant, which is the newest shape for the season. Pair it with a more fitted ladylike shirt or blouse to keep your silhouette balanced.

8. Embrace lace! From virginal to gothic, with a whole lot of see-through seductiveness in between, the importance of the lace shirt for winter emphasises the importance of true femininity for winter.

9. For those days when your hair just refuses to be obedient, the slouchy chunky cable knit beanie is the perfect cover-up. Oh, and you also look stylish while keeping out the winter chill. Triple bonus.

10. Ankle boots are a great investment piece, as you will be able to wear them both in winter, as well in cooler months of summer along with dresses, flirty skirts and cheeky shorts.

11. Wearing denim with denim is no longer a fashion faux pas! Wear your favourite pair of denims tucked into a fitted western style denim shirt.

12
. Layer your necklaces and stack up your bracelets for an eclectic jewellery statement that speaks to winter's bohemian looks.

13. Add a bit of va-va-voom to your night time fashion looks by wearing fire engine red lipstick, a colour which has become a perennial cosmetic trend.

14. Lastly, but most importantly, don't be a slave to fashion. Only embrace the newness that enhances your own personal style DNA.

Here's a look at what Foschini and Donna-Claire have to offer you this season:

Must-Have Winter Fashion: Part One http://www.cosmopolitan.co.za//Fashion/Cover-Girl/must-have-winter-fashion-part-one

1. Make your wardrobe work for you! Before you buy the most fashionable items that winter has to offer, spend money on the basic items that form the foundation of any wardrobe. You can then layer fashionable items on top of your basics. A couple of must-have pieces are a great, fitting pair of denims, a winter coat or jacket that suits your own style, as well as a couple of basic layering tops in neutral colours.

2. Buy yourself a snood (scarf + hood = snood). This ingenious, yet simple infinity scarf can be styled at various lengths and even worn, as the name suggests, as a hood!

3. The waisted belt is still on the must-have list. Wear it over your fitted winter coats and jackets to give them an instant winter update.

4. This season, there is a fascination with both ultra feminine, as well as masculine-styled fashion. Combine both influences in an easy way by wearing a girly winter dress with rugged worker boots.

5. Don't worry about matching your accessories anymore. With the diverse choice in easy-to-coordinate neutrals and naturals for the season, like winter greys and leather browns, your bag, belt, and shoes can work together in a complimentary rather than 'matchy-matchy' way.

6. Winter fashion is all about layering. Layer socks over stockings with skirts and slouchy knitwear cardigans over dresses and blouses.

7. Camel is the new black. If you are in the market for a new coat, look no further than the camel coat. This versatile colour works well when combined with winter brights.

8. If you are looking for a flattering dress style, try the 'Betty Draper'-inspired retro fit 'n' flare dress. This curvaceous silhouette flatters by placing emphasis on the slimmest part of your body, namely your waistline, and hides a multitude of sins from the waist down.

9. There is a lot of talk regarding the return of brights for winter. One of the most eye-catching seasonal colours is scarlet red. Note that the newest way to wear colour is to combine it with a neutral, for example, a nude tone.

10. Please report for duty this season! Military influences are key. You can be overt with this trend, by wearing the newest in military-styled jackets, or wear it subtly with casual items in a shade of army green.

11. Give your feet a well-deserved break by stepping into some fashionable flats like masculine-style brogues, pretty pumps or tailored loafers.

12. Don't be restricted to wearing denim solely in bottoms. Denim jumpsuits, dresses and shirts are amongst the newest of members of the denim tribe.

13. '70s style is back! Represent this beloved boho look by wearing flare pants with pussy-bow blouses and maxi skirts with slouchy knitwear. Oh, and don't forget our oh-so-'70s floppy felt wide-brimmed hat.

14. Leggings, which over the past couple of seasons were considered to be a fashion item, have very much become a staple piece for every woman. We simply love them, as they are relatively inexpensive and will stretch to fit, even if you miss out on a couple of sessions at the gym.

15. With women being known for their advanced multi-tasking abilities, the across-body bag is every working woman's ideal bag. Wear it across your body, or shorten the strap to a hand-held length. Two different looks, one bag.

Here's a look at what Foschini and Donna-Claire have to offer you this season:

Perfect Your Look http://www.cosmopolitan.co.za//Fashion/Cover-Girl/perfect-your-look-pg1
REVLON TIPS FOR EYELINER Fashion trends affect how you line or don't line your eyes. But whatever the current eye fashion is, eyeliner does four basic things for your eyes: It gives sharper definition to eye shape, makes lashes look longer, makes eyes look larger and amplifies the whites of your eyes.

Dramatising With Your Eyeliner
Eyeliners come in various colours, forms, liquids and pencils. Pencil eyeliners are versatile designers and can be used to create the following effects:
• Thinly applied for a fine, natural looking line
• Applied more intensely for a more dramatic impression
• Blended or smudged for a soft, smoky look

Pencil Points On Eyeliner
Always use a freshly sharpened pencil for a fine line. For a smudged effect, use a sponge-tip shadow applicator, an eye shadow brush or a blunt, pointed eye pencil. When a pencil is softer than you'd like, refrigerate before using and when a pencil is harder than you'd like, soften it a bit by holding the tip between your fingers for a moment or two. When applying eyeliner, remember to keep the line at the base of your lashes. Rest the heel of your hand against your chin for more skillful application.

Look out for the following Revlon eyeliners:
ColorStay Eye Liner Pencils, ColorStay Liquid Eye Liner, ColorStay Precision Eye Liner Pens.
