Pout Loud!

Applied well, dark and dramatic lipstick lets you pout it from the rooftops!

1. Dark lipstick tends to form streaks on chapped lips, so start by exfoliating them with a soft face cloth or baby toothbrush to smoothen them.
2. Apply a non-greasy lip balm to moisturise dry patches. After a few minutes wipe off any excess balm.
3. Use a lipliner to keep lipstick from looking messy. Choose a shade that matches your lipstick or is slightly darker. Using the side of the pencil, work from the centre to the corners. Blend with a finger so lips don’t look sharply lined.
4. Apply lipstick by rubbing a fingertip over colour and dab on. Smack lips together to spread it and blot with a tissue to remove any excess.
5. For a more precise application, use a lip brush to line and fill in lips. Press a tissue between lips to soften lines. For intense colour apply a second coat and blot again.

GOOD TO KNOW

* If you have fair skin, deep-pink lipsticks are most flattering, a medium complexion looks best with burgundy lipsticks, russet and raisin shades suit olive skin, and plum shades are flattering to dark skin.
* The more yellow your skin tone, the browner your lipstick should be.
* Mix your foundation with a touch of highlighting cream to keep your skin from looking too washed out against a strong lipstick shade.
* Keep eye shadows subtle so they don’t clash with your bold lip colour.
* Apply lots of lush black mascara to give eyes definition so they balance a vivid mouth.
