A makeup brush has specifically been designed for a specific area of your face, whether it's for applying blush to your cheeks or putting on eyeshadow. Here, makeup experts share their helpful tips, from what to buy and look out for to what each brush is should be used for.

'The right tools are just as important as the makeup itself,' says international makeup artist, Bobbi Brown. 'Invest in a good set of brushes and you'll find that with proper care, they can last for years.'

If don't know what to look out for, take note: 'A good brush should feel soft against your skin and its bristles shouldn't fall out,' says Brown.

Before you buy anything, says Clarins representative, Melissa Whittle, get a beauty consultant at your local makeup counter to show you how each brush is used.

EYE LINER BRUSH	EYE LINER BRUSH Before you apply your eyeshadow and start blending, you'll need to use this brush to make sure your eye liner application stays accurate, says Whittle. This brush will create a precise and even line, says Brown, especially if you're applying dark eyeshadow. Helpful hint: If you want to go for a smoky effect or need to blend your eyeliner, this smaller, more precise brush is your best option, suggests Whittle.
