PLAITED UP-DO
1. For this particular style, it is best to work with one-day-old hair, in other words wash your hair the day before. Freshly washed hair has very smooth follicles, so smooth hair would work its way loose from the plait if clean.
2. Work a small amount of styling gel (
TRY: Seri Normal Hold Styling Gel, R140 for 200ml) on to damp hair from the roots to the tips. From the back, sides and front, smooth with a brush and dry your hair as you go.
3. You should now have all the hair loose on the crown with the back, sides and front dry. Using a comb, separate the loose pieces into two sections, going from ear to ear across the crown.
4. Work with the back section first and make a very high pony. Secure with a hair band and tie a very loose romantic plait, allowing the ends to escape intermittently. You can even backcomb the ends to create a messier look, again, securing the end of the pony with a hair band.
5. Taking the front section, create a bit of volume by backcombing. Smooth the hair back with the comb and wind the length around the base of the pony until the last bit can either be tucked into your hair band at the top of the pony or neatly hidden with a grip under the base of the top part of the pony.
6. Smooth away any fly away hairs on the back, sides and front with a comb and spray (
TRY: Wella High Hair Designer Spray, R173).
