For this flowing style, all you really need is a bit of volume and natural movement, says Robyn Hill, chief stylist and owner of strangelove salon in Stellenbosch.
1. Set your hairdryer to medium heat and medium strength and 'finger-dry' your hair until it's about 70% dry.
2. Clip away the entire top section and apply a few squirts of straightening cream to your lengths. TRY
Greenlight Anti-Frizz Straightening Cream (R70).
3. Using a medium-sized brush, twirl your lengths vertically and direct your hairdryer downwards. While you're twirling your lengths, pull the brush downwards too. Keep at it until smooth. This is the easiest way to get soft, loose waves.
4. Unclip the top section of your hair and spray a bit of mousse, such as
REF Root To Tip Mousse (R135) on the root area for a gentle hold.
5. Using the same brush, blow-dry the top section into soft waves. Tip your head over and run your fingers through your lengths, while using your hairdryer to blow cool air into the roots – this will loosen tight curls, add volume and help to seal your style.
6. Find the natural direction of your hair, starting at your forehead, and pull it in the opposite direction. This will create optimum movement and that little bit of height, which will up the glam factor.
7. To prolong your style, make sure your hair is completely dry and has cooled down before running the tiniest bit of serum through your locks. TRY
Joico Sheer Gloss Shine Serum (R135).
8. Gently tousle with your fingers to create added volume.
